Campo Maior Flower Festival

Campo Maior Flower Festival, "Festa das Flores", is also known as the Festival of the People "Festa do Povo". Campo Maior is a town in the southern region of Portugal called Alentejo. This Fair is held in Campo Maior where the residents of each street decorate with paper flowers arranged in brightly-coloured ways.

Campo Maior's name comes from the Roman period, when it was known as Campus Maior. During Campo Maior Flower Festival, each street "compete" with each other when decorating the street with beautiful paper flowers. The Flower Festival usually takes place in the first week in September. Thousands of visitors come to see it not just from Portugal but also from many other countries.
