Olive oil from Portugal

As Portugal as large areas which have Mediterranean influence the growth of olives and production of olive oil has a long tradition. Olive oil is also an important ingredient to many recipes from traditional Portuguese cuisine.

Many Portuguese olive oil regions have been established and the methods of olive oil production modernized. In the south of Portugal the main region of olive oil production is Alentejo where Moura is an area which produces some of the most appreciated olive oils. In the North of Portugal, the region of Tras-os-Montes is the main region where olive oil has been produced.
