Portuguese events
Having such a long culture from its long history Portugal has many traditional events. Being a country with an overall mild climate many of the most important events happen in the open air rather than indoors. From the large number of existing Portuguese events VINIPortugal brings insights of some events which are very well known. Golegã Horse Fair or also called National Horse Fair is a good example of a Portuguese traditional event with centuries of existence.

Golega Horse Fair, "Feira da Golegã", has been always a main meeting and trading place for Lusitano horses which are the most famous Portuguese horses. The Fair is held at Golegã which is in the region of Ribatejo and occurs during about one week the month of November.
Campo Maior Flower Festival, "Festa das Flores", is also known as the Festival of the People "Festa do Povo". Campo Maior is a town in the southern region of Portugal called Alentejo. This Fair is held in Campo Maior where the residents of each street decorate with paper flowers arranged in brightly-coloured ways.
Tomar Festival of the Trays, "Festa dos Tabuleiros", also known as Festival of the Holy Spirit, "Festa do Divino Espírito Santo", is held in Tomar every four years. The last Festival of the Trays was in July 2007. It is a unique event with a procession where young women carry on her head a tray with 30 loaves.
