Portuguese monuments

Portuguese monuments tend to be located not always but often in cities an villages. As it happens in may other countries many of the best known monuments tend to be in the largest cities. Lisbon therefore host many famous Portuguese monuments and probably one of the most appreciated the Jerónimos Monastery. In Lisbon many other monuments are of "compulsory" visit such as the Belém Tower and the castle of São Jorge.

Although Lisbon hosts a large number of monuments they are scattered all over Portugal. For instance the beautiful monuments which are inscribed on the Unesco World Heritage List, including the Convent of Christ in Tomar, Monastery of Alcobaça and the Monastery of Batalha.
