Portuguese parks and beaches

A large proportion of people coming to Portugal might think in terms of "natural" landscape firs in beaches and the in the remaining countryside. In fact, the Algarve is one of the most tourist places and what the Algarve is famous for is for its beaches. Although Portugal as a long coast line the Algarve offers the best water temperature for swimming and the warmest climate.

However beyond the beaches Portugal have a large richness of countryside and in particular landscapes of protected areas and natural parks. On the network of Portuguese protected areas and parks two deserve a special reference the "Parque Nacional da Peneda e Gerês" and the "Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela". Both receive many visitors each year and are indeed worth of a visit.
